Volunteer Recognition
Behind every Scouting experience are dedicated volunteers who give their time, talent, and leadership to help young people grow. These outstanding individuals make Scouting possible. Through volunteer recognition, we celebrate those whose service, commitment, and impact strengthen Scouting and the communities it serves.

Silver Beaver
The Silver Beaver award is the highest national award presented by a local council to individuals for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth through service given to the council. Each local council may present only a limited number of Silver Beaver awards each year, which makes this a very prestigious award for those whose record of service to youth is most outstanding. Remember, this is for service given at the council level.

District Award of Merit
The District Award of Merit is the highest award that is given to a Scouter at the district level and recognizes adults for service to youth in the district. Interestingly enough, the District Award of Merit is the only “non-square knot” in the knot award group. Nominations should be submitted through your district committee.

Veteran Award
Presented for every five years of registration. You may count years of membership as both a youth and adult. Applications are submitted to our council office.

Greenwich Scouter
The Greenwich Council Scouters Award (hereafter known as GCSA) is available to Scouters registered in the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America for a minimum of five years, and who have rendered service of an outstanding nature.
