Silver Beaver Award  

The Silver Beaver Award, presented annually upon the action of a Council Executive Board, is the highest award that a Council can present to a volunteer. This award is for outstanding service to youth at the Council level or for outstanding longtime service to youth by a registered Scouter residing within the Greenwich Council. 

To nominate an outstanding Scouter for this prestigious award, complete the "Silver Beaver Nomination" form and submit it to the Greenwich Council.  Nomination forms for the next Council Volunteer Recognition Dinner are due to the Council office by April 2, 2018.

Requirements:

  • Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.

District Award of Merit

The District Award of Merit is awarded by a District to volunteer and professional adults for service to youth in the District. Normally, the award is presented for service to youth in excess of five years. Candidates for this award must be nominated. Self-nomination disqualifies the candidate.

To nominate an outstanding volunteer or adult leader for this award, complete the "District Award of Merit" form and submit it to the Greenwich Council.  Nomination forms for the next Council Volunteer Recognition Dinner are due to the Council office by April 2, 2018.

Requirements:

  •  A nominee must be a registered Scouter.
  • A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both.
    Note: The nature and value of “noteworthy service to youth” may consist of a single plan or decisions that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth or it may have been given to a small group over an extended period
    of time.
  • Consideration must be given to the nominee’s Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting position.
  • The nominee’s attitude toward and cooperation with the district and/or council is to be taken into consideration.
  • Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards.

Greenwich Scouter Award

The Greenwich Council Scouter Award (GCSA) is available to Scouters registered in the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America for a minimum of 5 years, and who have rendered service of an outstanding nature.  The Council may recognize up to 3 Scouters in any one year.  

To nominate an outstanding registered adult Scouter for this  award, complete the "Greenwich Scouter Award" form and submit it to the Greenwich Council.  Nomination forms for the next Council Volunteer Recognition Dinner are due to the Council office by April 2, 2018.

Requirements:

  • A nominee must be a member of the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America for a period of five years or more as a registered adult Scouter.
  • A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting.
    Note: The nature and value of “noteworthy service to youth” may consist of an activity/event or decisions that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth or it may have been rendered to a small group over an extended period of time.
  • Consideration must be given to the nominee’s Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting position.
  • The nominee’s attitude toward and cooperation with the district(s) and or council is to be taken into consideration
