About the Greenwich Council |
Welcome to the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America! We provide youth programs that develop character, foster fitness of mind and body, and teach citizenship. We were chartered in 1912 to serve youth in Greenwich, Connecticut with traditional Scouting programs and Learning for Life outreaches.
Mission: We prepare young people to make ethical decisions over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. A Scout promises on his honor to do his best to do his duty to God and his country. He promises to obey the Scout law and to help other people at all times. He commits to keep himself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Programs and Services: We provide the following programs for youth in Greenwich.
- Cub Scouts is for boys in Grades two through five. It is a family and neighborhood centered program. Boys meet weekly in dens and monthly in Cub packs. They wear uniforms, and have the opportunity to earn badges, learn skills, and participate in songs, sports, and games. Tiger Cubs is for First Grade Boys. It is a Family-oriented program with activities for boys and their families. They learn new skills at home under parent supervision. Boys meet several times during the month and leadership rotates among adults.
